Why we NEED the Honey Bee

aside from their delicious honey

The Honey Bee, Apis mellifera, is a key element in the success of the global crop food supply.  It is estimated that 71 of the top 100 crops, which account for 90% of the World's food supply,  are pollinated by honey bees. A single colony can pollinate 300 million flowers in a single day.

If the Honey Bee became extinct these plants (and others) would die. The entire natural food chain would be forever changed, and you would notice. Coffee, apples, chocolate, and tomatoes are a few crops that would be affected.  Not only would the bees and crops die, the other herbivores would die off with the meat eaters being next.

No bees, no food, no fun.

Take a look around learn about the honey bee and learn how you can help them keep helping us.
